ORGANIC PADS DEL/TRA FLT 80–83 XL 79–81

Organic brake pads for front and rear axles made with CE-compliant material. Designed for street riding, these pads offer a highly predictable feel and are gentle on the rotor.

Compatibility

Front: 1980–1983 FLT/Touring. Rear: 1979–1981 XL Sportster.

Advantages of Organic Compound

• Progressive modulation with minimal effort on the lever/pedal.
• Less noise and reduced aggressiveness on the rotor (aramid and other soft materials minimize galling).
• An excellent choice for cruising and daily use.

Considerations

• Somewhat slower response in wet conditions compared to sintered pads.
• Prone to glazing if continuously overheated.
• Shorter lifespan than a sintered pad; produces more dust.

Installation and Break-in

• Check the condition of calipers (seals and pistons), clean guides, and apply specific grease to contact points if necessary.
• Degrease rotors and check thickness; replace if below minimum.
• Break-in with 10–15 progressive stops; avoid hard braking for the first 100–150 km.
